Remote Computer Repair

I get asked from a lot of people about doing remote computer repair. We have been doing remote repairs for many years and started this service mainly due to having businesses that we support. So to us it made sense that we needed to provide remote support basically 24/7 in order to provide adequate support based on the contracts we have.

Now there are a ton of remote software programs out there that you can choose from. Typically for most businesses it comes down to cost of the program. For us we did not really look at cost as much as functions of the software/hardware itself. We selected the Bomgar for our main remote package to utilize. Since then we have used programs like ScreenConnect and a few others.

The big thing to think about if you are going to provide remote support is who exactly are you going to provide this service to. Is it your current customer base? Is it for new customers you think you will be able to get due to having remote support capabilities? Are you looking at providing it for new service areas?

Realistically if you are going to use it for current customers and in your general vicinity then it makes sense. If you think you are going to make a ton of cash and be able to offer this type of service in new areas or even nationwide then you probably are going to find out that you are mistaken.

Allot of others are offering remote and some have been doing it for years and are well established. They also have spent a lot of money in order to get ranked where they are in the search engines. So in order to actually be seen you also are going to have to have the money to get seen.

Remote is a good thing if you are going to do it for the right reasons. But, like anything else don’t be blinded by others and their amazing stories of remote should you decide to go this route. Concentrate on your current business model and if feasible then yes work it into your business.
